Tidal flat adventures on the Wadden Sea

As soon as you step aboard the TX10 in Oudeschild, your journey of discovery begins. We sail out onto the Wad, past sandbanks—and perhaps a few lazy seals. When the ship grounds, you can step off. What was just sea is suddenly laid open before you. You walk across the seabed, feel the Wad beneath your feet, and spot traces of birds, shells, and crabs. The skipper explains what lives beneath the surface and how everything here changes every day. After a walk on the mudflat, you reboard the ship.

Drying-out trips on the Wadden Sea

What are we going to do?
Liam takes you onto the Wadden Sea. Once we reach the sandbank, you can disembark via a gangway.

What should you bring?
Boots or old shoes are recommended when stepping onto the sandbank.
And don’t forget your binoculars and camera! In good weather, you can enjoy the feel of the Wad barefoot. In that case, bring a towel and don’t forget sunscreen.

What will we see?
Once your feet touch the seabed, Liam will tell you all about the rich life below the surface.
Children can go on their own little discovery tour with a dip net (Liam has some you can borrow). We’ll stay on the sandbank for about an hour. Plenty to see—and a truly special experience!

Drying-out trips: exploring the Wad for over 10 years

It never gets old: sailing across the sea and suddenly coming to a stop on a sandbank in the middle of the Wad. The engine is turned off, and silence takes over. You step off the boat and walk across the seabed – still wet, squishy, and full of life. No roads, no Wi-Fi, just wind, water, and wide open space. Liam shares everything about this raw piece of nature. Every trip is different, but always unforgettable.

From father to son

Liam of the TX10

Liam knew it from a young age: he wanted to be on the water. Not because he had to, but because it’s in his blood. He’s the fourth generation of fishermen in the family—and you can tell. He has a twin brother, Sydney, but Liam was always the one drawn to the harbor. After high school, he didn’t hesitate for a second and signed up for maritime school. Diploma? Check. Captain’s license? Check. No shortcuts for Liam. Today, he sails with the TX10 – with the same love for the Wad as his father, but in his own down-to-earth style. Ask him anything about currents, species, or the shortest route to the sandbank: he’ll know. And he’ll tell you with a smile.
